![]() THE COLOR OF SNOW November 2009 This project will have students wondering what is the real color of snow. They will use watercolor, Maskoid and salt to create their own unique landscape of birch trees, fences and colored snow. . |
![]() PASTEL WOLF January 2010 Students will draw a step-by-step portrait of a wolf and learn how to use chalk pastels. They wil also learn about wolves and wolf conservation. |
![]() MANDALA THE COMPLETE CIRCLE February 2010 What is a mandala? The meaning of mandala comes from Sanskrit meaning "circle". Even thought it may be dominated by squares or triangles, a mandala has a concentric structure. Mandalas offer balancing visual elements, symbolizing unity and harmony. The meanings of individual mandalas is usually different and unique to each mandala. Students will explore patterns, shapes, and emotions as they create their personal mandala using Prismacolor pencils. |
![]() THE POETRY OF IRON March 2010 This project is inspired by the work of Julio Gonzalez (1876-1942), the Spanish-born French "Father of Metal Sculpture." The students will sculpt with wire and foil to create their own abstract sculpture. The addition of black paint and a clay base completes this imaginative project. |
![]() WILD THINGS May 2010 Inspired by the whimsical book "Where The Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak, students will design a 3 dimensional page with landscape and a wild thing creature using a variety of art techniques and media.. |
