TUMBLING TILES

October 2011

In this project, each student will create four colorful "tiles" of cardstock, squares that can be turned in various directions to create diferent interlocking designs.

REFLECTIONS IN NATURE

November 2011

This project will introduce students to basic watercolor techniques and compositional elements of landscape painting, while learning a new technique for depicting reflections in water.

BRANCHING OUT

January 2012

This project is based on artist Charles Arnoldi. Students will use twigs, sticks and paint to create brightly-colored abstract design .

DESIGNS BY KLIMT

February 2012

In this project we are going to introduce the students to the life and work of Austrian artist Gustav Klimt. The children will use a variety of art elements such as line, shape and pattern to create a drawing with intricate designs emphasizing one area more than another .

LARGER THAN LIFE

March 2012

Students will draw flowers on a foam sheet and use paint in a printing like method to create the look of Georgia O'Keefe's beautiful flowers.

FLIPPED OUT

May 2012

Get ready to flip out with Notan. Our students will learn balance and symmetry, postive and negative space, and the use of light & dark. They will use paper and scissors to create an optical illusion masterpiece.
